If you happen to be in Singapore’s financial district at mid-day and catch sight of a man who faintly resembles former Afghan president Hamid Karzai, it just might be the Asia CEO of Indosuez Wealth Management heading for lunch.
Mr Omar Shokur, 48, is a Swiss national. But he was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, raised in Italy, returned for a few years to strife-torn Kabul, and five years later was carted off to Switzerland by his parents to escape the looming Afghan civil war with barely the clothes on his back.
