SEOUL – K-pop girl group Le Sserafim have released their fourth EP Crazy on Aug 30, six months after the release of the EP Easy in February.
Crazy delivers a message to “go wild just once with Le Sserafim”, and features a variety of genres. The album includes five tracks: the title track, Chasing Lightning, Pierrot, 1-800-Hot-N-Fun and The Reason I Can’t Go Crazy.
“While preparing for Crazy, I became confident that we could show a new side of ourselves,” member Kim Chae-won, 24, said during the press showcase in Seoul on Aug 29.
Le Sserafim explore house music for the first time in the title track Crazy. The group said they wanted to convey the emotions of meeting someone who drives them to madness.
Pierrot is a hip-hop number that samples veteran South Korean singer Kim Wan-sun’s Pierrot Smiles At Us (1990). The melody and theme subtly incorporate elements of the original song.
Member Huh Yun-jin took on the role of main producer for the final track, The Reason I Can’t Go Crazy. Since her debut, the 22-year-old has consistently participated in Le Sserafim’s songwriting.
Le Sserafim also shared thoughts on their performance at Coachella music festival in California in April, when they were slammed for their bad live singing. The other members are Kazuha, Sakura and Hong Eun-chae.
“There were many regrets, but it was also a time of great learning and realisation for both the team and me,” Kim said. “It was our first time performing at such a large outdoor festival and we were too excited, which led to us losing control of our pace. This experience reminded us that we still have much to learn and a lot of space to improve.”
Huh added: “We feel a strong desire to show our growth step by step, based on what we have experienced.
“We prepared this album with that mindset, and I believe Crazy represents the first step.” THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
