Meta won’t pay for Australian news, leaving media addicted to gambling ads

Australia must find creative alternatives to fund its news industry or risk it going under.

For almost 130 years, the Barrier Truth newspaper served the residents of Broken Hill, an outback town about 1,000km inland from Sydney.

But, on April 17, the newspaper, which provided news, jobs and a sense of community to the town of 17,500 people, printed its final edition.
