Marni launches at Marina Bay Sands

Italian fashion brand Marni, known for its quirky use of colour, has opened its first boutique in Singapore. Located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the 100 sq m store showcases the latest women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections of the brand founded in 1994.

The store concept was developed by creative director Francesco Risso and serves as a surprisingly neutral palette against which Marni’s colourful pieces can shine.

Its textured facade, curves and furnishings of polished light gold steel rails recall waves and evoke the gentle movement of water – a theme which continues inside with the store’s Calacatta marble mosaic flooring.

Consider it a nod to Marni’s name, a diminutive of the origin word “marina”, and its ties to the sea. Pale yellow and blue lacquered display tables serve as complementary accents.

Currently featured inside are the brand’s latest Fall/Winter Collection, High Summer 2024 Capsule collection and the new Trunkaroo Bag (from $1,840). The calf leather bag’s stripped-down silhouette is contrasted by an oversized magnetic closure.

Nars Cosmetics is officially 30 – and it is celebrating with new lipsticks and a pop-up.

The Maison Explicit pop-up at Basement 4 Ion Orchard honours the French-born brand’s bestsellers with interactive displays and photo opportunities.

Guests can pen their secrets or love letters to a crush at the Love Letter Wall; try out the brand’s most iconic products, such as the Radiant Creamy Concealer ($49), at the Icons Dining Table; or pick up the phone at the Dirty Talk Phone Booth to listen to a message from Nars global ambassadors.

At the Make Up Boudoir, try the new Explicit Lipstick ($55), a creamy, satin-finish lipstick with a new precision-tip bullet, available in 28 bold shades. Sustainability fans will also be pleased to know that selected shades of the lipstick are refillable ($33 for a refill).

On Aug 14, the brand flew in Korean-Australian musical artist DPR Ian – whose real name is Christian Yu and who sported the shade Body Heat on his lips – to grace the opening of the pop-up.

Beauty brands teaming up with local cafes seem to be all the rage. Next up is American skincare brand Kiehl’s, which is honouring its beloved Calendula range with a pop-up at Rise Bakehouse.

The range – which includes the Calendula Herbal-Extract Alcohol Free Toner ($44 for 125ml) and Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash ($60 for 235ml) – features extract of the orange flower, part of the daisy family, known for its soothing properties.

Orange-hued photo opportunities aside, the brand and cafe have created a small menu of inspired treats: the Calendula Cream Tea ($9), a floral, calendula-infused tea topped with sweet cream, and Honey Yuzu Calendula Cake ($9.80), a sweet cheesecake with a zesty yuzu twist.

New addition to Le Labo’s City Exclusives

Le Labo fans can rejoice with September around the corner, as it marks the annual return of the perfume house’s City Exclusives collection.

The collection was created to pay tribute to select cities around the world, with each fragrance usually available only in the city it was inspired by. Once a year, the full collection travels to Le Labo stores around the world.

Adding to the ever-expanding line-up is the 2024 City Exclusive, Coriandre 39. Crafted as an ode to the vibrancy of Mexico City, it spotlights the humble yet divisive cilantro (or coriander) plant.

It looks set to be a wearable crowd-pleaser. After the initial zing of spicy lime and vegetal notes, the scent settles into a fresh mix of florals and herbal greens, anchored by a faint musky dry-down.

Prices start at $235 for 15ml, while a 50ml bottle goes for $540. Here is a hack: City Exclusives 50ml, 100ml and 500ml bottles can be refilled year-round for 20 per cent off the retail price.

Info: Full sizes available from Sept 1 to 30 at Le Labo stores at B1-31 Takashimaya Shopping Centre, 391 Orchard Road, and L1-36 The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 10 Bayfront Avenue
